A New Kind of Ceremony: The Healing is You

Updated: Jul 16

It’s been a year since our last retreat, and I’ve been sitting with a lot — reflecting on my journey in the plant medicine world and the clarity that’s unfolded through experience.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the honor of sitting in ceremonies with many gifted taitas. I’ve received wisdom, healing, and awe-inspiring moments from these spaces. But even with all the beauty, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. There was a dissonance within me — a lack of coherence between what I was being told and what I felt in my bones.

I started to observe how rituals and traditions, passed down through generations, often lose their essence. We're repeating movements, rules, and preparations — but do we even know why? A man once jumped around a fire five times, and now that’s “the way.” But is it your way?

I’ve always been a bit of a rule-breaker — a rebel. And walking into these ceremonies full of imposed dietas, restrictions, and silences, I found myself asking: Who are you to tell me how to live? Who are you to decide how this earth medicine should be consumed?

In a world so eager to outsource God — to hand over our healing to doctors, shamans, or spiritual authorities — we’ve forgotten the definition of "doctor" is teacher. Yet most aren’t teaching us anything but dependency. A pill, an injection, a fix. But true healing doesn’t come from an easy way out. It comes from facing yourself. Listening to your body. Walking your own medicine path.

That’s why I created this retreat space — my own playground — where we return to the root of healing: ourselves.

Here, there is no “Taita” or designated leader. You are your own Taita in the making. And in each ceremony, every person brings a gift — whether it’s song, movement, music, laughter, or the simple presence of being. This isn’t a scripted performance. It’s a living, breathing alchemy, unique every time, shaped by those who show up.

Where others enforce silence, we encourage voice. Some of the deepest lessons and wildest expansions of my consciousness came from talking in ceremony, sharing, asking, realizing things out loud. Silence can be sacred — but it can also be a form of control when enforced without reason.

And let’s be honest — some of these “shamans” feel more like performers than healers. Dressed in traditional garb, playing the part… while their communities lie polluted and neglected. Authenticity can’t be worn. It can only be felt. And that’s where the disconnect lies — we’ve traded truth for theatrics.

Spirituality isn’t a show. It’s not a costume. It’s not a chant. It’s not even a ceremony. It’s internal. It’s individual. It’s yours.

And ceremony — real ceremony — is simply a container to amplify your intention. The ritual itself doesn’t heal. The plant doesn’t heal. You do. The body is always healing itself. Medicine is just an educator, showing the body what it’s capable of remembering.

This is where the remembrance clicked for me: I couldn’t play the old game anymore — so I created a new one. A more fun one. And I’m inviting you to come play too.

In our sacred playground, we don’t tell you what to do. We guide you lovingly, hold space with care, and invite you to shape your own experience. To take back authorship. To remember that you are the healer. You are the ceremony. You are the medicine.

If you’re ready to reclaim your power, your voice, and your healing…We’re here. The medicine is waiting. And so is the magic of you.
